The Story of the stuck van...again

Leave it to Paul...to get the van stuck...in our driveway...AGAIN. Now, mind you, its not just a stuck car...it prevents us also from using our other vehicle....you know, the one good in snow.

So, we did try everything...boards, rock salt, Clorox, pushing from behind AND from in front, we rocked it, we revved it....then, we finally figured we had nothing to lose, and were so desperate....we just poured hot water and melted it down...mind you...thats a lot of meltin'....mixed it with salt so it wouldn't freeze so fast......and in combination rocked and revved....it worked.....

Theory of Plowing

Now...we've lived here for 3 Erie winters...and of course, this is by far the worst. The record shows us as of today, that we are close to having the 3rd worst Erie Winter of ALL TIME (currently the 4th, but we'll beat the #s by the end of the week for sure). Now, ALL of our neighbors get plowed....they have a contract with plow boys etc....well, we don't.....cause we're poor gradschool students living off of loans. So...we figure, we'll just drive on ice and snow a little and save some $. But lately I've been thinking maybe we should have it plowed...just once.... But, my neighbor complained to us that "well, its your business if you don't want to get your driveway plowed".....but what she really meant was...'plow your freekin' driveway'...........and you locals...know this lady is CRAZY...no, I mean, certifiably, neurotically, very much clinically, needs to be medicated....crazy. So, out of spite...((cause you guys all know me))...I'm not gonna!!! It can just pile on up!!!! I have an all-wheel drive vehicle...she doesn't. I have a garage that fits both my cars...she doesn't even have one. So HA...keep plowin' crazy lady...I'll just keep on drivin and gettin' stuck in my own freekin' driveway!!!

Oh, yeah, and do you see the snow is up to her car windows...you can see it in the distance of the pic...lol....That is NOT the heaps/Mountains that accumulate after plowing......thats just...there. Maybe I'll go stand the kids in front of the heap in front of our house...so you can get a perspective..hmm....

1-I have no idea how to do this 'note' thing...but learning as I go...maybe I'll be successful.

3- I'd love it, if at restaurants, they had a plate with about 3 bites of everything on it...like a crazy multiple item platter....so you could have a little taste of everything...

16-There's nothing like the high of saving someones life...and them thanking you...realizing it was you.
17-I would be nothing without the love and help from friends and strangers.
18-My toenails are always painted.....usually red.
19-I wished my boobs were a tiny bit smaller ;-)
20-I'm good with the sewing machine (and surger)
21- I'm good in the kitchen too
22- I'm very financially savvy
23--I HATE attention seekers...they drive me freekin' NUTS!
24-I buy the news paper for the coupons...but recycle the rest! ;-)

Sorels or hipwaders?

So, I was going out today...yeah, the last day of the week as far as I'm concerned.....its supposed to be subzero the rest of the week....the temp is already starting to fall. Time for Erie Hibernation Mode. So, I'm in my driveway...you know, the place I've gotten stuck a half a dozen times this week already...and I get out of my van (because the snow-vehicle is in the shop...how convenient) and my Sorels...my trusty, ever so fantastic snow boots... aren't cutting it...and I start to wonder what real Erie-ites do...you know, the ones where this is NOT their first, 3 foot-3 degree adventure. And I wonder...do they have snow-hip waders? This is way over what the typical good ol' Sorel can handle (without additional equipment mind you). Anyway...if any of you see a Sorel Hip wader....contact me. ;-) Or maybe sweet Niki had it right...about going out "snow shoeing on Friday"...man, maybe she just went to the store, or out to her mailbox. Ya know? Definitely a qualifying endeavor!

Snow...that is what Erie has for US...is snow, and more and more snow, and this week...should be in the single digits...so its really fun to have snow AND ice. So, really, its only 18 inches if you don't count the drifts....but the drifts at are house are between 2-3 feet. An apology going out to anyone coming to our front door...we shovel...as you can kind of see...but then, it just keeps snowing...so, theres probably another 6-8 inches ontop of that "path" you see up to our door. Did you take notice you cannot tell where any of the hedges begin and end? HA. Just think...our last Erie winter!! ;-)

Sipots Brothers; Raymond and Joseph

This is one of the quartets my father and uncle sang in. My Dad was lead (he was a tenor)...he is on the far right. Uncle Ray is 2nd from the left and was baritone. This was taken in 1953..they were called the Wolverines. My Dad was also in another quartet (I'm sure there were many) called the Golden Staters. Uncle Ray played and sang in many bands as well. My Dad played the guitar, and banjo as well. Uncle Ray played the piano and I'm sure more than I know. Didn't they do the harmonica too??? I don't know....there was more talent in those two men......

I just spoke with my cousins and she informed me this was on the internet...so, what a great prize for me to find.

So, a tribute, to my sweet and loving father and uncle...I love you both and miss you every day....every...every day.

In all reality, Abby LOVES Roxy.... for some reason, it always is funny to her, even just to watch Roxy.
